As a follow-up to November's major update of Map Suite, we've added a new version of the Routing Extension to the mix. Map Suite Routing 4.5 today joins the Map Suite 4.5 family and brings numerous performance enhancements, new APIs and more. Here's a list of what's new in this latest version:

• Upgraded the Routing Index Format to speed up performance.
• Added override method GetRouteViaStops, which allows you to get the route using feature IDs.
• Added many validations for the public API -- checking file extension, etc.
• Fixed an issue with TSP initial route distance.
• Fixed an issue with the GetRouteDirections sample.

We've also added several new APIs, details of which you will find documented in the Routing extension's API change log on the ThinkGeo Wiki. Don't forget, the wiki is the new home for change logs, sample code and other resources to help you make the most of any Map Suite product!

Updating Your Copy of Map Suite Routing

• To update your evaluation edition, simply download and install a new copy from our Evaluation Downloads page.
• If you've purchased Map Suite, login to the Customer Portal to download an updated full version.

Don't forget that you can install Map Suite 4.5 alongside your previous version and associate your projects with either one.

Heat Maps (For Map Suite 4.5) Learn how to create visually striking heat maps with Map Suite by using the code in this sample project. Newly updated for compatibility with Map Suite 4.5, this sample demonstrates spatial distribution of swine flu cases in North America, but could be applied to any sort of statistical data.

Heat Map with Earthquakes (For Map Suite 4.5) Building on the previous sample, here you'll learn how to create heat maps using parameters other than strictly spatial distribution to affect the coloring on the map. In this sample, the heat map is based on the magnitude of earthquakes recorded in the United States. Updated for Map Suite 4.5.

Tracked Shapes to File In this WPF Desktop sample, we show you how to persist the tracked shapes on your map by saving them to a file in WKT (Well-Known Text) format using Map Suite's TrackEnded event. Then, we demonstrate how to retrieve those shapes from the file when the map is loaded.

Polygon Shapes To Multipolygon Shapes Here, we use WPF Desktop Edition to demonstrate how to combine various PolygonShapes into one single MultipolygonShape. Since this cannot be done directly, we show you how you can accomplish it by passing an IEnumerable of PolygonShape.
