Many times you may find yourself wanting to plot location information on the map that isn't contained within a shapefile. For example, let's say you have a customer database that contains their longitude and latitude coordinates. On the map you may want to show customers who have purchased products within the past 30 days and due to the dynamic nature of the data, you wouldn't want to continually update a shapefile with these points.

This is where DynamicLayers and MapShapes come in quite handy. These are easy to use APIs that allow you to plot dynamic information on the map from virtually any data source. Utilizing these APIs, you can control the symbology, labeling, and visibility of your dynamic data on the map. In the example below, we show how to iterate through a .NET data table object and build up a dynamic layer based on the longitude and latitude information for each customer.
