WMS Server Edition Tiled Web Map Service

Map Suite WMS Server Edition is the fastest and easiest way to set up a high-performance, scalable and standards compliant Web Map Service (WMS). Detailed feature list »

How Map Suite WMS Server Edition Works

Map Suite WMS Server Diagram

Your Web Map Service and spatial databases live on one (or more) web server, which handles the generation of your map images. These maps are then served over the Internet to your client applications. You can build your own client apps with tools like Map Suite Desktop Edition or Web Edition, or use any other software that can consume a standards-compliant WMS.

Standards Compliant WMS

  • Uses WMS standards approved by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)
  • Supports connections from any client that implements WMS
  • Consume maps from web-based apps, desktop apps and more

Scalability and Redundancy Features

  • Lets you serve your maps independently from your web-based app
  • Supports expansion across multiple servers
  • Can utilize load balancing for high availability

Tile Caching Provides High-Performance Throughput

  • Implements tile caching for maximum performance
  • Configurable options and support for multiple caches
  • Our full line of Map Suite products can take advantage of this caching

Add New Features via the Managed Extensibility Framework

  • Write your own map data plugins as MEF classes
  • Add your own features like advanced logging or custom security
  • Use common Map Suite classes that you're already familiar with

Serve Your Maps Separately

Running a WMS server powered by Map Suite WMS Server Edition allows you to serve your maps separately from your client application. This helps you safeguard sensitive map data, reduce your client distribution footprint and optimize bandwidth for web-based apps.

Built On the Rock-Solid Map Suite Services Edition API

Map Suite Services Edition lends its powerful GIS foundation to this product. If you're already a Map Suite developer, you'll find WMS Server Edition's classes and elements familiar and easy to work with.
